10 family-friendly activities during Amherst Winter Carnival

Are the kids a little shack-wacky? Keep them busy with a week of Winter Carnival activities! Here's a list of 10 great ways to get you started:

1. Got a mini-scientist? Kids in grades 4 to 6 can drop by the Four Fathers Memorial Library on Tuesday, Feb. 13 for the Evil Genius Club - Winter Carnival edition. 3:00-4:00pm, Call 902-667-2549 for more information. 

2. Try ringette at the After the Bell Skate and Ringette session on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 2:45 - 3:45 at the Amherst Stadium.

3. A Youth Drop-In and Swim (Grades 4-6) is happening on Thursday, Feb. 15 at the YMCA from 5:30 - 7:30.

4. Friday Night Fun with Swim for ages 9-14 runs from 8:00 - 10:00 PM at the YMCA.

5. A Hawaiian Luau Outdoor Skating Party is planned for Saturday, Feb. 17 from 2:00 - 3:00 at the outdoor skating surface in downtown Amherst at the corner of Victoria and Maple.

6. The whole family will enjoy Shakespeare: A Musical Comedy on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 4:00 at the CCU Business Innovation Centre (5 Ratchford St.) Admission is just $5.

7. Make a birdfeeder, paint on the snow, and enjoy freestyle play at the Outdoor Play Day in Victoria Square on Sunday, Feb. 18 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

9. Watch the play "Flight of the Honey Bee" to learn why bees make gardens grow. Monday, Feb. 19 at 3:00 pm, CCU Business Innovation Centre (5 Ratchford St.)

10. Try your hand at dipping a beeswax candle the old-fashioned way at the Heritage Fair on Monday, Feb. 19 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, CCU Business Innovation Centre (5 Ratchford St.)
