Town to celebrate Earth Day with community cleanup

As town crews begin the spring cleanup of parks and outdoor facilities please join us in helping keep Amherst clean and tidy. 

Earth Day is Monday, April 22. The Town of Amherst and community partners will celebrate Earth Day from April 18 to April 23, with a community cleanup effort on Saturday, April 20.

Bags for litter pick up will be available at the Amherst Stadium from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be a battery drop-off for used batteries and a compost giveaway, weather permitting.

Volunteers play important role in our community

Each year communities across Canada celebrate National Volunteer week to thank and honour individuals who donate their time to help others and support causes in which they believe. This year National Volunteer Week runs from April 7-13. 

The Town of Amherst will honour our nominated local volunteers during the Volunteer Appreciation Reception on Tuesday, April 9, at the Community Credit Union Business Innovations Center. Individuals will be recognized for their outstanding contribution to our community.

Shelley Carroll was selected as the Volunteer of the Year, while Aaron Froese was named the Youth Volunteer of the Year.

Fred Page Cup just over a month away

We are counting down the days to the 2019 Fred Page Cup.

Amherst is proud to host this event, held from May 1 to May 5 at the Amherst Stadium.
