Coun. Lisa Emery developed her love of community and volunteerism from her parents Betty and Ray Emery, the latter a former mayor of the Town of Amherst.
Emery served as an Amherst town councillor between 2012 and 2016. While on council, she served on five council committees, chairing two of them. She also served as deputy mayor for a one-year period between October 2013 to October 2014.
Just recently re-elected to council, Emery says she is looking forward to working on the public’s behalf and moving the community forward.
“I know that not everything to help our community can be done at the government level, so I also serve on several community organizations,” Emery said.
An avid volunteer, Emery is the chairperson of several organizations, including the Cumberland County Museum, Eat Local Cumberland, the Multicultural Association of Cumberland and the Cumberland Regional Hospital Foundation.
Emery currently works for the Tantramar Community Radio Society CFTA 107.9 FM as the accounts manager and front office manager.
