Deputy Mayor Sheila Christie



Sheila Christie, newly elected to Town Council has served the Town of Amherst on various local committees, local boards, as either a member or chairing many organizations over the years such as, Relay for Life, Showcase Productions Society, Bright Beginnings Daycare, Engage Nova Scotia Committee, Amherst and Area Trails Society, Empowering Beyond Barriers, as well as a member of the Amherst Curling Club.  Councillor Christie has been appointed to the Office of Deputy Mayor for a one year period ending October 31, 2017.

Her lifelong community volunteering approach, holding key leadership roles, along with her 28 years’ experience as a financial controller give her a grass roots approach to the various issues facing Amherst.

The Town of Amherst has so much to offer and the future can be limitless under effective, forward thinking guidance.

Sheila, who has lived  in Amherst and area all he life, has her immediate family living here, and as a single parent of a university aged daughter Alisha, is looking forward to helping Amherst reach its fullest potential for our citizens, children and future generations.
