Sept 19: Basketball kicks off Multisport program

Fall is in the air! Children and teachers are settling in back to school.  Local sport organizations and community groups have begun fall registration and programs.  The Amherst-Cumberland Multisport Program has a full group this year and we're excited to start with Basketball!

Ten local sport organizations have committed to the program throughout the next 10 months. Basketball is the first sport on the schedule followed by skating, curling, gymnastics, taekwondo, swimming, athletics, soccer, cheer and baseball.

The Amherst-Cumberland Multisport is focused on the importance of children in the active start stage of long-term athlete development to be exposed to multiple sports,Skating for the best first experience when entering into sport. The vision of the program is to grow children through sport by providing opportunities to develop the skills and confidence to enjoy the positive benefits of a quality, first experience. Multisport participation leads to better overall skills and ability, less burnout and overuse injuries, more lifelong enjoyment in sport and, most importantly, it’s more fun!
