What's Up Rec?

Time to celebrate all things Amherst

Happy back to school week everyone!

It is crazy to think that it is that time already. Summer has been a blast and we are reminiscing about all the fun we had as our summer programs wrapped up last week.

The Recreation Department would like to thank everyone who came to our events and programs, and supported our active living incentive all summer long. To be able to offer and run our programs we rely on the community to participate and to give us feedback for upcoming summers. If you have any feedback or ideas for summer programming that you would be interested in, let us know by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. Summer students saying goodbye

Our summer students are also saying goodbye as they are returning to school. We want to thank them for all their hard work this summer in the many aspects that they were involved in. From keeping our town clean, green and tidy to putting together programs and doing our Friday Fitness breaks, it was a pleasure to work with them. We are sad to see them go. We wish them the best of luck, wherever their future takes them.

Let’s help keep Amherst clean

Even though our summer green team students are gone for the year, we still have our full-time staff working hard to keep our community in tip top shape. Please remember to throw your trash in the many receptacles around town.

This is also the perfect time to remind everyone of our dog waste receptacles at various locations around Amherst, including at our off-leash dog park in Dickey Park and the Rotary Centennial Park among many others.
