WATER MAIN FLUSHING - The Amherst Water Utility's annual water main flushing program will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, and run for about five weeks.
Most customers will not notice any change to their water delivery during this process. However, in some instances homes may experience a temporary drop in water pressure and/or discolouration in their water. There should be no disruption in service.
If you experience discoloured water, run your cold-water faucets for 10 to 15 minutes to remove any entrapped air or turbidity from your service lateral. Doing this should clear the water at your residence.
Discoloured water in itself does not pose a health hazard.
We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. However, this is only temporary and is necessary to ensure high water quality and maintain the reliability of the water distribution system.
