Amherst StadiumWebclicks

185 Church Street, 902.667.6500
Since the Amherst Stadium was built in 1959, it has been home to many great events on and off the ice. The Stadium is host to the Amherst Junior A Ramblers, Cumberland County Minor Hockey, Amherst Skating Club, and many athletic and community events. An indoor walking track is open daily. The building is fully accessible.

Through an innovative pilot project, public skating is offered free of charge and ice rental fees are waived for youth programs (minor hockey, figure skating). The intent of this pilot is for oganizations to pass the equivalent savings to their members, resulting in reduced registration fees and greater access to sport for all families.

Amherst Lions Skatepark11

Built in 2011 with generous support from the Amherst Lions Club, the 10,000 sq. ft. skatepark is located next to Amherst Stadium on Church Street. The park's configuration is largely plaza-based with various ledges, rails, stairs, hips, and more. There are some transition elements as well: a bowled-out quarter pipe and a custom quarter pipe.

The skatepark was developed as part of our strategy to provide no-cost recreational opportunities to youth. Helmets are recommended.

Victoria Square7

98 East Victoria Street

During the summer, Victoria Square hosts free family movies and music. In winter months, the square is dressed up with a dazzling holiday lighting display. Amherst's four fathers of confederation are memorialized in four engraved granite blocks. The park is surrounded by beautiful old buildings, including the courthouse and two churches, making it a lovely setting for taking pictures.
