Police Investigating late night Motor Vehicle Accident

Amherst Police are investigating a late-night accident that occurred in the South Albion Street area on March 15th, 2024.

At approximately 2:30am on March 15th, 2024, a member of the Amherst Police Department was patrolling the area of South Albion Street and noted a vehicle that was travelling the opposite way on South Albion Street. As the vehicle passed, the officer noted that the tail-lights were not on and heard an audible car alarm. The officer turned his vehicle around and started to follow the vehicle, but the vehicle quickly turned down a side street that connected with another street. The officer watched the area, expecting the vehicle to exit, but when it did not, he entered the street and located the vehicle and noted severe damage to the front end. Police located a second vehicle in a driveway that had damage consistent with being struck while parked.

A 59-year-old male was arrested in relation to the incident. The male is facing charges relating to driving without a license and in relation to the circumstances surrounding the accident. The matter is still under investigation.
