Female Arrested in Relation to Stolen Vehicle

A 30-year-old Amherst woman has been arrested and remanded into custody in relation to a vehicle theft that occurred during the early morning hours of May 20th, 2024.

On May 20th, 2024, shortly before 6:00am, the owner of a GMC Terrian reported that his vehicle was stolen from their residence on Mission Street in Amherst. The vehicle was later tracked to an address in Springhill NS and was observed by Cumberland RCMP and fled from police. Shortly afterwards, the vehicle was located in Amherst and the accused was arrested nearby.

During the investigation, a second set of keys for a Dodge Ram was located and police learned that these keys had been stolen a few days earlier in the same area. An APD member canvassed the area with the keys in attempts to locate the vehicle that the keys belonged to. The vehicle and the owners were located and the keys were returned.

Jessica Dawn SCOTT, aged 30 of Amherst has been charged with:

  • Committing an indicatable offense with face covered – Section 351(2) CC
  • Theft of a motor vehicle – Section 333.1(1) CC
  • Possession of break-in tools – Section 351(1) CC
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000 – Section 354(1)(a) CC
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000 – Section 354(1)(a) CC
  • Fleeing Police – Section 320.17 CC
  • Operate a motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public – Section 3230.13(1) CC

Scott was remanded into custody and is set to appear before the court again on May 21st, 2024 in Amherst Provincial Court.
