Amherst recognizes long-service employees

Twenty employees whose labour adds up to about 300 years of service to the Town of Amherst were presented with long-service awards on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021.

“Our town is fortunate to have such dedicated, hard-working people,” Mayor David Kogon said. “Without their dedication, the town simply could not deliver the quality programs and services that we provide.”

The mayor was assisted in handing out the service awards by Deputy-Mayor Hal Davidson, councillors George Baker, Lisa Emery, Sheila Christie and Leon Landry and CAO Jason MacDonald.

Honoured were:

  • Leonard Tower for 40 years of service with the town’s Operations Department.
  • Staff Sergeant Brian Gairns and Sergeant Bob MacPherson for 30 years service with the Amherst Police Department.
  • Deputy-Clerk Natalie LeBlanc and CAO Jason MacDonald for 20 years of service.
  • Building Inspector Marc Buske, Facilities Co-ordinator Corey Crocker, Customer Service Clerk Marie MacDonald, Stadium Employee Matt Selig, Dispatcher Ian Smith, Firefighter Bob Sperry, Bylaw Officer Robert Kelly and Police Officers Normand Bourque, Aaron Graham, Michelle Harrison, Derek Hebert, Dave Hirtle, Mark McNair, Jeff Walsh and Tom Wood for 10 years of service.
