Amherst Police Department - Search Leads to Arrest and Multiple Charges

A 27-year-old Cumberland County man is facing numerous charges as a result of the execution of a search warrant at a property in Maccan, Nova Scotia on Tuesday February 27th, 2024.

Bradley Peter Gilbert, aged 27, of Maccan, Nova Scotia is facing numerous criminal code charges in relation complaints of thefts throughout Cumberland County and recovered property Recovered Property 28 02 24that was located during Tuesday’s search. The estimated value of the recovered property is in excess of $250,000. Charges laid include:

  • 354(1)(a) Criminal Code - Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – X7
  • 354(1)(a) Criminal Code - Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 – X3
  • 145(5)(a) Criminal Code - Fail to comply with release order condition
  • 91(3) Criminal Code - Possession of prohibited weapon

At approximately 9:00am, on Tuesday February 27th, 2024, members of the Cumberland Integrated Street Crime Unit (SCEU), with the assistance of the Amherst Police Department Major Crime Unit, Cumberland County District RCMP, RCMP Emergency Response Team and RCMP Traffic Services executed a search warrant on a property in Maccan NS. The search resulted in the recovery of numerous vehicles, heavy equipment and other property that had been reported stolen from several locations throughout Cumberland County.

Gilbert was arrested without incident at the scene and has been remanded into custody and is expected to appear in court at a later date. The Cumberland Street Crime Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of members of both the Cumberland County District RCMP and the Amherst Police Department, are coordinating the investigation which involves multiple files and multiple complainants. Additional charges are also anticipated as the investigation continues.
