Closure of Amherst POW camp remembered

The closure of the Amherst First World War POW camp a century ago was remembered by the residents of the Town of Amherst, representatives of the Federal Republic of German and representatives of the Ukrainian internees during a ceremony held in town on July 2, 2019. Wreaths were laid at a monument that honours 13 POWs who died while interred in the camp and a concert was performed by the German Luftwaffe Band.
