Amherst’s Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Committee seeks public input

The Town of Amherst’s Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Committee is seeking the public’s assistance as it works towards developing an inclusion, diversity and equity strategy for the town.

“We are conducting a survey in order to gain perspective and feedback on how the town can become more inclusive in our programs, events, hiring practices and policy development,” Community Living Director Sharon Bristol said.

“We are asking as many people as possible to complete the survey, which should take folks 10 minutes or less to complete.

The seven-question survey can be found, filled out and submitted online at https://forms.gle/fk1knqKTJR1mVoea8.

Paper copies can also be filled out at the Amherst town hall, 98 Victoria St. E.

The survey asks questions like, how can the Town of Amherst be more welcoming and inclusive in their events and festivals and do you think the Town of Amherst’s hiring practices are fair and equitable.

The responses will be used to help create an inclusion, diversity and equity strategy for the town, which the committee hopes will be approved by the Amherst town council later this year.

Deadline to complete the survey, which has already been sent out to several stakeholders, is April 30, 2023.

“We look forward to receiving the responses as we work together to make our diverse community more inclusive and equitable,” Bristol said.
