Flags lowered to half-mast to honour town employee John McLean

Flags flown by the Town of Amherst were lowered to half-mast on Monday, March 11, in honour of town employee John Edward McLean, 48, who died on March 5.

MacLean joined the town in 2012 as a member of the Recreation Department. The son of the late Edward (Ed) and Norma (Lamrock) McLean, he is survived by sisters, Nancy (Danny) Berry, Springhill, N.S. and Lorilee McLean (Gerald Mills), Springhill, N.S.; brother Tom (Debbie), Timberlea, N.S.; nieces and nephews, Cory, Lucas, Justine, Lindsey, Sydney, Emma, Kaitlyn, Erica and great niece Jayden.

The flags will remain at half-mast until the morning of Wednesday, March 13.

Mayor David Kogon, members of Amherst town council, CAO Greg Herrett and town staff offer our sincerest condolences to the McLean family at this time.

An Afternoon of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, March 12, at A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, from 4-7 p.m.
