Christmas Day fire destroys mobile home

Amherst firefighters battled a Christmas Day fire that destroyed a rural mobile home at 4482 Highway 302 Nappan.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, located about nine kilometres from downtown Amherst, they found a building fully engulfed by flames that were shooting out most windows of the home, said Fire Chief Greg Jones.

Firefighters battled the fire with water and foam from both the outside and inside of the home.

Amherst firefighters were assisted by peers from the River Hebert Fire Department.

They were on the scene for about two hours.

No one was at home at the time of the fire and no one was injured while fighting the fire.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
