The Town of Amherst paid tribute to a fallen Truro firefighter when it lowered all its flags to half-mast on March 22.
Illegal parking around the Amherst Stadium during Rambler hockey games is creating a safety hazard.
“We are concerned ambulances, fire trucks and police cars cannot safely manoeuvre the streets around the stadium when games are being played because of the way people are parking,” Acting-Police Chief Dwayne Pike, the town’s traffic authority, said.
March 26 has been proclaimed Purple Day in Amherst by Mayor David Kogon.
“I would urge residents to wear purple on March 26 and take the opportunity on Purple Day to increase their knowledge about epilepsy, a neurological disorder that affects more than 300,000 people in Canada,” Kogon said, as he signed a proclamation putting the day into effect.
