The month of May has been proclaimed 2021 Census Month in the Town of Amherst.
“The Canadian census is critical to decision makers and Canadians from coast to coast,” Mayor David Kogon said on Friday, April 30, 2021, as he signed the proclamation on behalf of the Amherst town council.
May has been proclaimed Lyme Disease Awareness Month in the Town of Amherst.

A new face will soon be greeting visitors entering Amherst’s town hall.
Michelle Terfry is joining the ‘A’ team as a customer service and accounts payable clerk on May 3. She will be replacing Marie MacDonald, a longtime employee who has greeted folks entering town hall for many years and is set to retire at the end of May.
Effective immediately, the Amherst town hall and Amherst Stadium will be closed to the public until further notice.
The move is in response to rising cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia and the announcement by the provincial government on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, of a provincewide lockdown.
