The Town of Amherst kicked off the 2019 holiday season with a weekend of activities that included a light up in Victoria Square on Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, a Christmas parade on Nov. 16 and a Tree for Boston sendoff on Nov. 17. To view a photo essay of the weekend, please click on the picture.
Nov. 17-23, 2019, has been proclaimed Municipal Awareness Week in the Town of Amherst.
“Our municipal government, like other municipal governments across the province, provide services that enhance the quality of life for our citizens,” Mayor David Kogon said on Nov. 15, as he signed the proclamation.
Christie Park is undergoing a refurbishment.
The park’s brick wall is having its masonry repaired and strengthened. In addition, new stairs and railings are being installed in the park.
“Christie Park holds a very important historical significance to the Town of Amherst,” said Chelsea Baird, the town’s horticulturalist who is overseeing the project.
