The construction of a new Amherst Little League T-ball field has the support of the Amherst town council.
“We’re absolutely delighted to back this very worthwhile project that will see the T-ball field built on the site of the little league complex, between the fire station and the Art (Sonny) Foster Field,” Mayor David Kogon said, following a special council meeting on Sept. 6, 2022.
Victoria Square will be lit up in blue from Sept. 1 to Sept. 18, 2022, in recognition of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
“Prostate cancer is the No. 1 cancer in men,” Mayor David Kogon said, on behalf of the Amherst town council. “I encourage men to learn about this cancer and the steps that can be taken to prevent and treat it.”
The month of September 2022 has been proclaimed Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness Month in the Town of Amherst.
“Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is a diagnostic term used to describe the impact on the brain and body of individuals who were exposed to alcohol prior to their birth,” Mayor David Kogon said on Aug. 31, 2022, as he signed the proclamation on behalf of the Amherst town council.
The Town of Amherst is determined to figure out if anything can be done to prevent flooding similar to what occurred in February 2022.
Back then, the town experienced a day of flooding due to a heavy intense rainfall that combined with a rapid snowmelt, due to unseasonal warm temperatures, that resulted in numerous sections of town experiencing significant funding.
