Amherst town council’s committee of the whole is recommending the December meeting dates for the committee of the whole and regular council sessions be changed in order to avoid being in conflict with the Christmas holiday.
The committee approved the recommendation at its Nov. 16, 2020, meeting, and forwarded it to council for approval during council’s Nov. 23, 2020 session.
The week of Nov. 15, 2020, to Nov. 22, 2020, has been proclaimed Municipal Awareness Week in the Town of Amherst.
“Our municipal government, like other municipal governments across the province, provide services that enhance the quality of life for our citizens,” Mayor David Kogon said on Nov. 13, as he signed the proclamation.
Lt. Andrew Wallis and Firefighter Darin Pettis have been named the Amherst Fire Fighters Association’s firefighters of the year.
The two were selected by their peers for the award, which were handed out during ceremony held at the firehall on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020.
