The Town of Amherst and its unionized police force have agreed to a new five-year collective agreement.
Amherst’s police officers, members of Atlantic Police Association Local 104, have been working without a contract since March 31, 2019, when the last collective agreement expired.
Santa Claus is coming to town, but the annual Christmas parade in the Town of Amherst will be very different from past ones due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead of the floats passing by people sitting on or standing next to the curb, the parade will be a stationary one. The floats will be parked on one side of Tantramar Crescent and folks will drive by in their own vehicles to view them.
The Town of Amherst has a new chief financial officer.
Amherst resident Michael Hunter, CPA, CA, was appointed to the position on Oct. 14, 2020, during a special session of Amherst town council.
The Town of Amherst, in partnership with the Amherst and Area Chamber of Commerce, CBDC Cumberland, the Cumberland Business Connector and the Town of Oxford, is launching the Mind Your Business Cumberland workshop series.
“This is a series of workshops designed to give business owners and professionals an opportunity to expand their knowledge on a number of topics that will help them improve their businesses and accelerate growth,” Tamara Porter, business development officer for the Town of Amherst, said.
