The Town of Amherst wishes to congratulate Kaili van Vulpen on her recent success in the New York City Marathon.
The Amherst area native, who now lives in Halifax, finished in a time of 2:58:35. She came in fourth among Canadian women participating in the marathon, which attracted more than 50,000 runners from 131 countries. She also met her goal of completing the 42.2-kilometre course in under three hours.
Abiola Falaye is the newest member of the ‘A’ team.
Falaye joined the Town of Amherst as its new land-use planner and geographic information system technician on Nov. 3, 2022.
He comes with extensive training and experience in both fields, having graduated with a bachelor of technology in urban and regional planning from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Ogbomoso, Nigeria, and a masters in urban planning from Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom.
Council accepted the recommendation of its audit committee and approved the acceptance of the 2021-22 audited consolidated financial statements for the Town and its water utility when it met in special session on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022.

Firefighter James Brundage’s peers recognized his many contributions to the Amherst Fire Department by choosing him to be the Amherst Fire Fighters’ Association’s volunteer of the year.
Brundage was presented with the award by association president Alex Harrison on Saturday Nov. 5, 2022, during the department’s banquet – the first held in three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
