Fifteen candidates are in the running for a position on Amherst’s town council in next month’s municipal election, including all of the incumbents.
There are three people vying for the mayor’s position in the Oct. 17, 2020, election, including the current mayor, David Kogon. He is being challenged by Ed Childs and Vaughn Martin.
Chief Financial Officer Shelley Rector is leaving the Town of Amherst at the end of September in order to be closer to her family, CAO Greg Herrett announced on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020.
Ms. Rector join the town in mid-2018 as the town’s first chief financial officer after a reorganization that saw the creation of the position. She was responsible for all financial aspects of the organization and oversaw the Information Technology, Business Development and Community Well-Being portfolios.
Town of Amherst buildings containing automated external defibrillators, also known as AEDs, have been registered with the EHS Nova Scotia Volunteer AED registry.
