The Town of Amherst, in partnership with the Amherst and Area Chamber of Commerce, CBDC Cumberland, the Cumberland Business Connector and the Town of Oxford, is launching the Mind Your Business Cumberland workshop series.
“This is a series of workshops designed to give business owners and professionals an opportunity to expand their knowledge on a number of topics that will help them improve their businesses and accelerate growth,” Tamara Porter, business development officer for the Town of Amherst, said.
Amherst wouldn’t be the vibrant caring community it is without 2020 Volunteer of the Year Michael Wilson and 2020 Youth Volunteer of the Year Rajan McKenney, Mayor David Kogon said on Oct. 8, 2020.
“Michael and Rajan epitomize what it is to be a volunteer,” Kogon said. “Their individual contributions to this community are invaluable to this town. They, and their many fellow volunteers, make the Town of Amherst a great place to live, work and play.”
Last week, Taylor Ford Amherst held a Drive for Health fundraising event in support of local physician recruitment and retention, as well as Cumberland healthcare professionals’ recruitment and retention committee.
For each test drive, Taylor Ford donated $50. At days end, the total came to just shy of $5,000.
The local food bank got a financial boost on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, when the Amherst Food Assistance Network Association received a $2,000 community support grant from the Town of Amherst.
“The food bank is a great example of neighbours helping neighbours,” Cheryl Laliberté, the town’s well-being manager, said prior to presenting the grant to Charlotte Ross, the association’s chairperson.
