Amherst town council approved transferring $13,137.92 to its general operating fund from its operating reserves at its Sept. 28, 2020, council meeting.
The transfer was made in order to cover a deficit of the same amount in the Mandatory Provincial Contribution Rate for the 2019-20 fiscal year.
The Emergency Health Services flag will fly over the Town of Amherst on Monday, Sept. 28, 2020, in recognition of the life-saving service provided by paramedics who serve this community, region and province.
“I have seen the great work done by paramedics,” Mayor David Kogon, a retired physician, said on Sept. 24, 2020, as he signed a proclamation on behalf of Amherst town council that declared Sept. 28, 2020, as Medic Monday in the Town of Amherst.

“Access to information is critical to democracies around the world because having that access enables citizens to actively engage in a meaningful way in the democratic process,” Kogon said as he signed the proclamation on Sept. 24, 2020.
