Amherst Police Department

A 40-year-old male and a 43-year-old female, both of Amherst, Nova Scotia are facing several charges following a complaint of a suspicious vehicle during the early morning hours of April 13th, 2026.

At approximately 2:00am on the 13th of April 2026, Amherst Police responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Anson Avenue. Police located the vehicle and two occupants who appeared to be asleep. Police noted what appeared to be a handgun in the vehicle. As a result, both parties were arrested and as a result of a search incident to arrest, Police also located an assortment of suspected controlled substances and other weapons.

Vincent Mallory, aged 40 of Amherst NS is facing several charges that include:

  • Possession of a Weapon – Section 88(1) CC x 2
  • Possession of Weapon/Ammunition in Vehicle – 94(1) CC
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking – Section 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession of Controlled Substance - Section 4(1) CDSA x 3
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order – Section 145(5)(a) CC x 5
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Section 354(1)(a) CC

Barbara VanSnick, aged 43 of Amherst NS is facing charges that include:

  • Possession of a Weapon – Section 88(1) CC
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking – Section 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession of Controlled Substance - Section 4(1) CDSA x 3

Several tickets were also issued under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Both persons were held in custody overnight and made an appearance in court on April 13th, 2026. VanSnick was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear again on June 1st, 2026. Mallory has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear again on April 21st for a show cause hearing.
