Get in the patriotic, holiday spirit by decorating your home or business for Canada Day! Decorated homes and businesses will be judged on best use of Canadian flags, use of the colours red and white and overall patriotic theme. Ten prizes will be awarded in the most patriotic home category and two prizes will be awarded in the most patriotic business category. 

Decorate your home exterior - porch, deck, driveway orbusiness store front where it is most visible to passing pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Entries will be judged on the most creative, fun and patriotic décor. Participation is open to all Town of Amherst residents and businesses.

It's a tech-savy scavenger hunt using QR codes to find the next clue! All you need to take part is a smartphone, a QR code scanner and a sharp eye for spotting QR codes hidden around town. Complete the challenge on Canada Day for a chance to win a prize. Good luck and have fun!

Get in the patriotic, holiday spirit by picking up one of our take and make Canadian craft projects. Choose either a Paper Lantern or Friendship Bracelet project kit.

Pick up at Amherst Town Hall from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on June 30.

The Paper Lantern Kit includes a white paper bag to use as a lantern, red construction paper to decorate your lantern and a battery operated tea light.

The Friendship Bracelet Kit includes an instruction sheet and two skeins of embroidery floss, one red and one white.



We have three new face-in-a-hole photo stations available. Snap a pic for a fun, summer keepsake. Beginning Canada Day, you will find them located at Dickey Park, next to Town Hall at the corner of Laplanche St. and Victoria St. and at the Nova Scotia Visitor Information Centre.
