Amherst Police Department

A 31-year-old man has been arrested and remanded following a string of shoplifting/theft complaints from several local business over the long weekend.

Andrew Stoicheci, aged 31, of no-fixed address is facing multiple theft charges as a result of complaints from local businesses that allegedly occurred between June 29th and July 1st. He was arrested on July 1st 2024 and held in APD cells overnight on the charges. He made a brief appearance in court on July 2nd and has been remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear again on July 4th, 2024.

Stoicheci has been charged with 5 counts of theft under $5000. The alleged incidents include the theft of a bicycle and bicycle helmet from a business on Robert Angus Drive, a theft of alcoholic Liquor from the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission, a theft of clothing from a business on Church Street, a theft of property from a second business on Church Street and a theft of multiple items from a business on Lawrence Street.
