The Town of Amherst-hired contractor will complete the demolition of the building located at 77 Station Street starting on Monday, August 17, 2026. This work is expected to take 10 days to complete. The building is being dealt with under Part XV of the Municipal Government Act and has been deemed a Dangerous and Unsightly premises.
Due to this, Station Street will be periodically closed from Crescent Avenue to Abbott Street during weekday business hours (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) until work is completed.
All avenues under the Municipal Government Act were pursued by the Town to have the owner(s) complete the required work, but the owner(s) have failed to take action. The Town is carrying out this work to ensure the safety of its citizens.
