Amherst Police Department
Three individuals who were arrested by Amherst Police within the last 24-hours have been remanded into custody until July 22nd, 2024 for a show cause hearing on numerous charges.
On July 17, 2024, a 30-year-old female and a 36-year-old male, both from Amherst, were arrested in relation to a Break, Enter and Theft that occurred on July 14th 2024 on South Albion Street. Both were held in police cells overnight and made a brief appearance in court on July 18th. They have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to return to court on Monday July 22, 2024 for a show-cause hearing.
Tori Lynn Landry has been charged with:
- 177 CC - Prowling at Night
- 334(b) CC - Theft Under $5000.00
- 348(1)(a) CC - Break Enter and Theft
Bruce Robert Higgins has been charged with:
- 177 CC - Prowling at Night
- 334(b) CC - Theft Under $5000.00
- 348(1)(a) CC - Break Enter and Theft
- 270(2) CC - Assault Police
Both individuals have several other Criminal Code charges pending.
In an unrelated matter, a 48-year-old Amherst man was arrested in the early morning hours of July 18th, 2024 following a complaint from a local business of a theft. Officers attended to the business and located the accused who was arrested and held for court.
Craig Allen Gidney has been charged with:
- 334 (b) Theft Under $5000.00
- 334 (b) Theft Under $5000.00
Gidney made a brief appearance in Amherst Provincial Court on July 18th and has been remanded into custody. He is scheduled to return on July 22nd, 2024 to answer these charges and for a show-cause hearing. Gidney currently has numerous pending criminal charges before the courts.
