Amherst Police Department

A 33-year-old Amherst man is facing numerous Criminal Code driving charges relating to an incident that occurred on the evening of July 16th, 2024.

Shortly after 8:00 pm, members of the Amherst Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. The driver was identified by the officers and was later arrested at their home.

As a result of the incident, the driver is facing several charges that include:

  • 320.17 CC - Flight from Police
  • 320.13(1) CC - Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • 320.18 CC - Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Prohibited

The accused was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on September 9th, 2024 to answer to these charges. His name has not been released as charges have not yet been formally laid.
