THE ROLE
The Marketing & Communications Strategist will be a key driver in advancing the Town’s strategic goals by leading cross-departmental marketing initiatives and developing comprehensive short- and long-term marketing, advertising, and promotional plans. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Brand strategy development and implementation.
- Fostering community engagement and inclusivity.
- Leading the development and execution of digital marketing & communications strategies, as well as overall short- and long-term marketing strategies.
- Primary lead for coordinating cross-departmental marketing initiatives, including event and program promotion.
- Acting as the primary contact for media outreach and public relations.
- Management of Communications Officer providing support, and direction to ensure the successful execution of marketing and communications initiatives.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years related experience, preferably in a public sector environment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans and brand strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing and public speaking are required.
- Expertise in digital marketing and social media platforms, including content creation, campaign management and analytics.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across various teams and external stakeholders.
- Community Centric: must be passionate about building a sense of belonging and improving the quality of life for the residents of Amherst through effective marketing.
- Possession of a valid Nova Scotia driver’s license.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Permanent full-time (35 hours per week).
- Salary Range: $67,624 - $80,747 per year.
- Satisfactory criminal records check, at the sole discretion of the CAO.
- Some overtime may be required based on operational needs, such as attendance at Council meetings.
