
Victoria Street E. and Church Street Closing August 8

On Thursday, August 8, portions of Victoria Street East and Church Street will be closed for a special event.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Victoria Street East will be closed between Havelock and Lawrence Streets. Church Street will also be closed beginning at 7 a.m. between King Street and Victoria Street East.

Portion of Laplanche Street Closed - Saturday, August 3
- Details
Laplanche street in downtown Amherst will be closed on Saturday, August 3 between Victoria Street East and Dale Street. This closure will begin at 11 a.m. and the street will re-open at 3 p.m.
This closure will accommodate a ceremony to unveil a new monument dedicated to the No. 2 Construction Battalion. The ceremony begins at 1 p.m. in memorial park, beside Town Hall, and all are welcome to attend.

Organics Collection
- Details
The weekly collection of organics (green bins) within the boundaries of the Town of Amherst has resumed. Please put your green bins by the curb every week - when you put your garbage out, and when you put your recycling out.
Weekly organics collection will continue until September 20, 2024.

Notice of Approval - Development Agreement - 305 Church Street

As of May 28, 2024 notice is hereby given that Amherst Town Council, at a meeting held on May 27, 2024, passed a motion to enter into a Development Agreement to permit construction of a residential development containing a mix of single detached and multi-unit dwellings on property located at PID 25038720 (known locally as the Dolan Property).
Section 249 of the Municipal Government Act provides the right to appeal this decision to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board within 14 days from the date of this notice.

As of May 28, 2024, notice is hereby given that Amherst Town Council, at a regular meeting held May 27, 2024 approved second and final reading to amend the Land Use Bylaw Zoning Map to change the zoning of 11 and 13 Industrial Park Drive (PIDs 25395872 & 25028507) from Highway Commercial to Mini Home.
