Town Has New Tool to Improve Communication With Citizens

Are you registered with Voyent Alert yet?
Voyent Alert is a multi-purpose communication service used by the Town of Amherst to send alerts to residents, businesses, and visitors about relevant day-to-day communications such as snow removal advisories, planned maintenance, water advisories, events etc.
The service is completely free for users, who can customize what kind of notices they receive. Message categories include Service Interruptions, Employment Opportunities, Procurement, Severe Weather Updates, Festivals and Events, Upcoming Meetings, and, general Amherst Updates.
How to Register:
Registration for this Canadian-based service is FREE, simple and totally anonymous.

To receive Mobile App Alerts: Download and install the Voyent Alert app from the Apple or Google Play app stores.

Feb 1: Date for Increased Curbside Recycling Inspections

Inspections of curbside recyclables will increase beginning Feb. 1, 2024, and materials not sorted property will be rejected at the curb. Dual-stream recycling has been in place for more than five years, which requires service users to separate their paper recyclables from all other recyclable materials. Call for Citizen Appointments to Committees of Council

The Town of Amherst is looking for interested citizens to fill appointments on the following Committees:
- Accessibility Advisory Committee: Assists Council in fulfilling its responsibilities relating to identifying, preventing and eliminating barriers to people with disabilities in municipal programs, services, initiatives and facilities.
- Poverty Reduction Advisory Committee: Assists Council with matters regarding poverty reduction, including increasing wellness and quality of life for all constituents living in the Town of Amherst focusing on what is needed to prevent people from experiencing poverty.
- Amherst Board of Police Commissioners: Acts as a liaison between the Amherst Police Department and Amherst Town Council.
- North Tyndal Wellfield Advisory Committee: Advises Council on policy issues to do with the protection of the groundwater quality.
- Planning Advisory Committee: Advises Council with respect to land use planning matters, and also acts as the Dangerous and Unsightly Committee and Heritage Advisory Committee.
