Station Street closures starting August 17, 2026

The Town of Amherst-hired contractor will complete the demolition of the building located at 77 Station Street starting on Monday, August 17, 2026. This work is expected to take 10 days to complete. The building is being dealt with under Part XV of the Municipal Government Act and has been deemed a Dangerous and Unsightly premises.
Due to this, Station Street will be periodically closed from Crescent Avenue to Abbott Street during weekday business hours (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) until work is completed.
All avenues under the Municipal Government Act were pursued by the Town to have the owner(s) complete the required work, but the owner(s) have failed to take action. The Town is carrying out this work to ensure the safety of its citizens.

Laplanche Street closed August 17, 2026

Laplanche street is currently closed between Victoria Street and Dale Street, to complete a water service repair.
Work is expected to take until approximately noon today. Normal access will resume at that time.
Drivers are advised to plan an alternate route while this street closure is active this morning.

Traffic delays on South Albion, August 11, 2026

Work is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in the area of 105 South Albion Street - between Frank & Gino's and the dental office. Water and sewer services are being installed for a new residential development.
Traffic control personnel will be in place from approximately 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. on August 11. Drivers in this area can expect delays and are encouraged to plan an alternate route.

Laplanche Street will be closed between Victoria Street East and Palmer street today - Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
Barricades will go up at 1 p.m. and will remain in place until approximately 5 p.m.
Local traffic only on Laplanche Street during this time. Drivers, please plan an alternate route.

Town Facilities Closed for August Holiday Monday, 2026

This holiday Monday, August 3, 2026, the following Town facilities will be closed:
- Town Hall
- Community Credit Union Business Innovation Centre (CCUBIC)
- The Amherst Stadium
Police and Fire services will operate as usual over the holiday weekend.

Amherst Stadium Closing for Annual Maintenance - 2026

Preparing for the Season Ahead
The Amherst Stadium will be closed for three weeks starting Friday, August 7, re-opening on Tuesday, August 26, 2026.
During this time, staff will be re-installing the ice surface and completing annual maintenance.
Exception: the Stadium will be open for the EXIT 1 Summer Bash on August 13.
