
Test of Alert Ready System Nov 20 in Nova Scotia

This afternoon at 1:55 p.m. Atlantic Standard Time, a test of the Alert Ready system is taking place across Nova Scotia.
You may hear the alert tone coming from your radio, TV, or cell phone - but, this will only be a test.
Test alerts help you learn what an emergency alert would look and sound like.

Albion Street Under Construction at Industrial Park Drive

Ongoing construction is now impacting the intersection of Albion Street and Industrial Park Drive.
Work is expected to take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, from November 18 to November 22, 2024. Traffic lights are not functioning and traffic flaggers are in place.
Drivers are asked to plan an alternate route, to avoid this intersection during the construction period, or to anticipate delays if driving through the construction area.

Construction Work on Industrial Park Drive

From Tuesday, November 12 through Friday, November 15, construction work will take place on Industrial Park Drive, from Albion Street to the area of Coast Tire.
Work will begin daily at 7 a.m. and will continue until at least 7 p.m.
The street will remain open, but flaggers will be in place and there will be traffic delays. Drivers are encouraged to plan an alternate route during this project.

Downtown Street Closures Today - Painting Crosswalks

Downtown streets will be closed at times today for the painting of crosswalks.
Victoria Street E. will be closed between Church and Havelock Streets. Then, Victoria Street E. will be closed between Lawrence and Church Streets.
These closures will take place in two phases to minimize impact. Barriers and detour signage will be in place, but motorists are advised to plan an alternate route during this time.

Robie Street Closed to Through Traffic

Robie Street is closed until approximately noon today, November 6, between Havelock and Church. There will be no through traffic, but accommodations are being made for residents of the street. Other drivers are asked to plan an alternate route.

Downtown Streets Closing for Halloween Event
- Details
On Thursday, October 31, portions of downtown streets will be closed for an event organized by the YMCA of Cumberland - The Trail of Treats.
- Victoria Street E. will be closed between Lawrence and Havelock Streets
- Church Street will be closed at Princess Street
Barricades will be in place beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 31 until 7 p.m. Motorists are advised to plan an alternate route during the time of these street closures.

Mayor and Council To Be Sworn In

Amherst's Mayor and Councillors will be officially sworn in at a ceremony on Wednesday evening, October 30, from 6-8 p.m. at the Community Credit Union Business Innovation Centre, 5 Ratchford Street.
